Where Has Janice Been?

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

I know, it seems like I fell off the planet. I have a number of partially written posts, and partially begun projects. The past few months have been an unending stream of sicknesses (mostly me and/or the 2-year-old twins) and family emergencies.

Also, for the past few months, I’ve worked heavily on my husband’s site (and as some of you know, my husband is my business partner at GeekArtist). I worked on a site for his new project, WeaselPants Productions, LLC which is his new tabletop game company. His background is in video game design, but he loves making tabletop (cards and board) games too. He’s a brilliant game designer with an awesome sense of humor. (more…)

Welcome, Tim!

We’ve got another subcontractor! Yay!

I’d like to welcome Tim Covington to the team. Tim has 11 years of web design experience. He’s giving us a hand with website updates. So for those of you that use our ticketing system for site updates, you can expect to see responses from him too.

As some of you know, we juggle infant twins in addition to running a business. That means we can always use a hand around here! Thank you Tim!

If anyone ever contacts you on behalf of GeekArtist and you aren’t sure if they really work for us, feel free to email me and ask. Or you can just see our staff list of who does what below. Current staff consists of:

Janice – what do I not do??
Jonathan – customer service, graphic design, baby wrangling
Leah – bookkeeping, writing site content, SEO research
Jason – website updates
Tim – website updates

Thanksgiving 2010 Office Schedule

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

We’re closing for Thanksgiving!

*gasp*

I know, right? I bet you thought we didn’t take time off!

GeekArtist will be closed for everything but emergency web hosting issues 11/22/10 through 11/28/10.

If you are considering any updates to your site, please have them in before 11/19/10.

If you have questions about how the holiday will impact your current project, feel free to get in touch.

Changes to how we do site updates

We’d like to introduce a new staffer, Jason Morales. (Hi Jason!) If Janice isn’t doing your site updates at any time, Jason may be doing them instead. To ensure that both of us can get to your updates easily, please send them to updates@geekartist.com

Looking for some free site work? As always, you can give us a review online and let us know, and refer friends to us too, for some free work for your site.

News from GeekArtist for Clients: Three Things!

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

1. For services such as site updates and SEO, we’re moving away from quarterly billing to monthly.
This does not apply to hosting accounts;
if you pay for your hosting quarterly that will remain the same.

Basically, if we haven’t done enough work in a month to warrant a bill, we’ll roll that into the next month and even the next quarter. For example, if we did 5 minutes of work, we’ll just mark the time and save it for the next bill. Otherwise, you get your invoice each month.

If this will be a problem for you this quarter, let us know and we’ll hold off on billing you monthly until next quarter begins.

2. GeekArtist is a “we”! This is truly becoming the family business.

In the future, you can expect to be contacted by people other than me.

You may also hear from my husband Jonathan Schwarz, who is handling graphic design for both print and web, and marketing and advertising.

My mother Leah Bellamy handles our bookkeeping and other administrative work. She also writes website copy and handles some of our SEO.

3. We need your contact info! We are updating our records so please pass along your:

** State (for sales tax purposes)
** Phone
** Emergency phone (in case we need to reach you after hours)
** Email (you may also want to give us an alternate email in case you ever can’t reach us with your domain mail, i.e. the email@yourdomain.com account)
** Up to 2 additional points of contact for your account (optional)
** Any other info you want to share

As always, this will not be shared outside of GeekArtist Web Solutions, LLC (yes, that’s the last bit of news: we’re an LLC and we’ve moved!)

News: GeekArtist as DrakNet’s “In House” Web Design

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

I’m pleased to announce that GeekArtist Web Solutions will be providing website assistance to DrakNet Web Hosting customers. GeekArtist is acting as their “in house” web design service. That is in quotes since we’re still two separate entities, but we have several years experience working together.

I’ve spent some time working DrakNet’s support desk and actually, DrakNet provides my web hosting service. This means I’ve got improved knowledge of their hosting intricacies and administrative knowledge, and access to their servers.

I’ve been with DrakNet for nearly a decade. Of all the hosts I’ve worked with for the past 10 years, DrakNet is the most reliable with the best customer service. I would not resell through any other web host.

I can’t say enough good things about Jen Lepp and DrakNet. And I’m thrilled that our businesses are working together in this capacity.

Remember GeekArtist hosting clients: as always, contact GeekArtist with any hosting questions. If you contact DrakNet they will simply refer you back to me.
